All those in the team heading north-east met in the lobby at 08.00 for the airport, with MJK Tour Manager, for their morning flights. This left Trey, Tim Lights & MJK to fly north-west on early evening flights. Paul FOH is catching the `bus (very much for all) to Colorado via Laredo.
I had a pang of parting, even though three weeks today I’ll be landing in Nashville and heading for The Basement Belewbeloid. Sitting, waiting for my flight to begin boarding, I revisited the places of this tour. Recapitulation is a necessary part of any process, and one that in my early touring years I did not sufficiently honour. Part of that was the unpleasant nature and conditions of much of that life: once a tour was over, the last thing I wanted to do was to revisit it. But this is to wish away our life, to fail to appreciate the riches on offer; even if those riches are buried in a dung- heap. The places of this tour I found, waiting for me to visit them. Time permitting, more reflection and commentary on this.
A lot has happened since we boarded the Crimson Pantechnicon of Wonder on Sunday 22nd. July, the 8th. anniversary of my dear Mother flying from this world, and set off for Cincinatti. And I still have no way of reconciling my life as a working player and being away from The Little Horse, and Dorset.
