If we could understand performance, we’d know how the world works. Something like, the Creation as performance.
How does an impulse of inexpressible loving benevolence, that wishes to give itself away, enter our world and move directly into our experience? Moving from the noumenal to the phenomenal, the unconditioned to the conditioned?
The Creation is a big thing. Performance is accessible, available to our participation and experiencing.

Ah yes. I finally understand, in Kantian terms, what Robert Fripp meant at the first Crafty Guitarist course at Claymont Court as we were walking out to perform.
“How does an impulse of inexpressible loving benevolence, that wishes to give itself away, enter our world and move directly into our experience? Moving from the noumenal to the phenomenal…”
And then, gathering us together just before we went on stage, he looked around and said:
“Let’s show those pipe biters some swollen meat.”
At last, the noumenal had become phenomenal.
Thank you so much for everything you've done for us. I've been a guitar player my whole life and I keep learning from you at a level that I would never gain from most teachers.
