The Vicar is in SoundWorld I, mixing the same impressively-unhinged track that engaged his attention yesterday. When I mentioned the degree of unhingedness to him, he sputtered back It’s not unhinged! It’s entirely logical to me! Case proven, then: the piece is unhinged. At the beginning of today’s DGM working day, I suggested firmly to The Vicar (one does not tell The Vicar what to do) that he enter SoundWorld I and not emerge until the piece is on its hinges, mixed & ready to be uploaded.
The Vicar is behind this very door, at this very moment...
Unhinged, or That Boy’s Not Cool! is only one of many pieces, in various parts of construction, that have emanated from SoundWorld I, The Vicar’s laboratory, during the past two years. R&D is good, laboratory testing is fine, and the perfect world a commendable aspiration. But time now that The Vicar begins to present his music to a waiting world, even if the sonic results do not do full justice to his conception.
The name of my business company is Possible Productions, and it is well- named: I aspire to a perfect world, and accept to begin with the possible, moving gradually towards the impossible. The Vicar is more at the idealist end of the idealist-pragmatist pole than one couched & bedded with commerce & the music industry; one whose moral impulses are eroded by too many nights on tour buses & in lesser accommodations; one whose generosity of spirit has been blunted on innocent audients with consumer rights to assert.
In a perfect world, The Vicar’s album will be presented to public ears when samples are replaced by actual instruments & breathing, living players; when the overall totality of the album’s conception is matched by the quality of recording & performance. Bring on the perfect world! I say. Meanwhile, get that little unhinged Uncool Boy sucker stomped flat, uploaded & available to consumers by the weekend!

I had forgotten all about "The Vicar". What ever happened with all of that?
